Meet the Team
Here’s the heart behind Seed to Sanctuary — one person and four rescues, all growing, learning, and building a sanctuary together.
Deanna — Founder
I’m a 30-year-old aircraft maintenance engineer with a lifelong love for science and nature. What began as starting over 600 seedlings in my sunroom grew into the sanctuary you see today. My backyard transformed from an overgrown bush into a thriving mix of vegetables, herbs, and flowers. This garden has become my refuge, my inspiration, and my way of sharing the health, beauty, and sustainability of growing food and flowers with others.

Gemma — Gentle Spirit
Gemma is a two-year-old sleddie mix and the heart of Seed to Sanctuary. We fostered her through Baladi Sled Dog Rescue of Ontario (BSDRO) and adopted her officially last December. Starting this business on her one-year anniversary with us felt like the perfect way to honour her journey. Though she is still shy and timid, she is smart, quirky, and full of love. Gemma has taught us patience, calmness, and the power of trust. Donations from Seed to Sanctuary will go back to BSDRO to help more dogs like her.

Mika — Protector & Guide
Mika is our leader and caretaker. She has a gift for sensing what others need — knowing when to comfort, when to encourage, and when to simply sit quietly nearby. She has been Gemma’s greatest support, and has also helped us foster four other dogs, giving each one the confidence and comfort they needed before being adopted.

Willow — The Sweet & Sassy Boss
Willow, our nearly 3-year-old tabby from the Humane Society, came to us independently and quickly established herself as the boss of the house — even over the dogs. She rules with both sweetness and sass, keeping everyone in line while bringing her own charm to the family.

Graham — The Lovebug
Graham is our 2.5-year-old black-and-white domestic shorthair and the sweetest cat you could ever meet. Overflowing with personality, he greets everyone with love and makes it his mission to bring warmth and joy to every moment.

Together, we are Seed to Sanctuary — a blend of people, rescues, and nature, growing gardens and giving sanctuary one seedling at a time.
