Cherokee Purple Tomato Seedling
Rich, smoky, and deeply coloured, Cherokee Purple is one of the most beloved heirloom tomatoes for both flavour and history. Originally grown by the Cherokee people, this variety produces large, dusky rose-purple fruits with a deep red interior and complex, sweet taste — perfect for slicing, salads, and gourmet dishes.
🪴 Plant Details
• Heirloom indeterminate tomato with 10–12 oz fruits
• Distinct dusky purple skin and brick-red flesh
• Complex flavour — rich, sweet, and slightly smoky
• Excellent for slicing, caprese salads, and fresh eating
• Vigorous vines with steady, high yields
☀️ Growing Info
• Full sun (6–8+ hours daily)
• Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with compost
• Space plants 24–36” apart with sturdy staking or cages
• Water deeply and evenly to prevent cracking
• Harvest when fruits turn deep reddish-purple and feel slightly soft to the touch
🌿 Companion Planting Tip
Cherokee Purple Tomatoes thrive with basil, marigolds, and chives — companions that improve growth and flavour while keeping pests away. Avoid planting near potatoes or fennel, which can stunt development. Great for raised beds or warm garden spots with full sunlight.
